Why do they call Hispanics Latino or Latina? The Latin language comes from Ancient Rome.?
If latin is the language of ancient rome, then should we start calling Italians latinos and latinas? they are the real latin people? If not, then the romace laguages are spoken in several different countries besides south america including north Africa, france, and romania and so on... Why arn't the people from these countries considered latina or latino? I think this world is confused. Please help.

They are called that because the Spanish language and all the Romance languages are mostly based on the Latin language. These are called Romance languages because, being based on Latin, they originated in Rome.
why do they call white peolpe caucasion (or however u spell it)? we aren’t asian…english language is weird…period
latin people are people that speak a romance or latin derivitved language.in spanish it is latino(a). hispanic is the latin word for spanish.brazilians are latinos but not hispanics.
I have often wondered this myself. The term Hispanic – which means ‘Spanish’ – i.e. from Spain – is also misused in this context.
Hispanic derives from the word "Hispania", this was what we know today as Spain or España. As far as Latin, like many other subjects or names it has become popular to refer to Latin Americans as Latins when indeed they are but so are the Italian, French, etc. Why do when we say Africans we think of black skin and Afro’s? same thing, there are many other Africans that we don’t even acknowledge Egyptians, Moroccans, etc.
