I'm taking Latin 1 in my sophmore year in high school and I wanted to know if it was good to know since im going into the medical field. Yes I know it's a dead language but I heard many other languages formed from Latin and that there are many medical terms in the Latin language.

i called a place where they teach different languages, i told them i want to learn japanese, russian and latin and i thinked of korean also, but they said there is no latin language.
how im supposed to tell them i want to learn latin language? should i tell them i want to learn latin-american or what?

In my studies, I came to understand that Greek was the predominate language of the Roman Empire. Yet, the Latin language seemed to "overtake" it and is mostly associated with it today. Can someone clear this issue up for me? Thank you.

I am just curious is it possible or could it happen that Latin can be revived into Modern Latin? just as Hebrew was th only dead language that was revived in Modern Hebrew and Modern Greek its just a thought and I know the official language of Italy today is Italian, I am aware of that and know that. I wish Latin was revived its just disappointing to see a pretty language like Latin to die out as a conversational or spoken language.
Brennus I think you are misunderstand my question I am not talking about Latino or Spanish Latin I am talking about the Byzantine Latin, you know the Latin language of the Holy Roman Empire that comes from Greek. I know it must be confusing nowadays because there are two types of Latin one that was used by the Roman Empire and the other that is called Latino referring to Spanish I am not talking about Spanish Latin. next time Brennus understand which Latin I am referring two I am talking about the Latin language referring to the Roman Empire

Hi all !
My question is how different are the classical version of the latin language and the medieval one ? I know that medieval latin varies from country to country so I will specify that I'm talking about medieval latin in England ( Britain ).
I'm asking becouse I'm currently studying the english medieaval latin and I have never studied classical latin before. I know that medieval latin was derived from vulgar latin but I don't know much about it else from it was spread to the foreign provinces by the soldiers. I don't know how related is it to the true latin. Therefore with the knowledge of medieval latin will I be able to understand the language of the late Roman republic and empire or not ?
I'm looking for both dictionary and grammar and further explanations would help.

Hello community, I've recently come upon the beauty of the Latin language and its monumental impact throughout history. I've been trying to read some Latin-to-English side-by-side translations to get a grip on vocabulary, but I'd like to take some courses or procure some instructional books, mainly to learn with a group of people and be instructed on grammar. The only problem is, there are very few places around the metroplex (at least that I've found in my searches) that offer Latin classes.

Can someone please give me some guidance?

Thank you.
