It is a COOL language!!!

But it´s best in a class. I have found, working in a number of schools, that the Latin teacher is almost ALWAYS the coolest person on the staff! And the classes are usually great fun!

That said...you can just search online! There are tons of links to places where any language can be studied. Make sure you´re getting the whole deal, though...obviously, a bunch of flash cards, telling you how to ask for the hotel and a taxi in Latin aren't going to be much help!

Try about.com for the basic grammar, and just search "learn Latin online free". I have a couple of links, but I haven't checked them out, yet, so I can't really recommend them.

I agree with Kate that it's best to learn Latin in a class. But there's a very good website by Fr. Reginald Foster. Just be aware that there are slight differences between Classical and Ecclesiastical (Church) Latin, including differences in pronunciation.

There's a First Experience and a Third Experience (and an explanation of why there's no Second).

Enjoy!
