I need to learn reams and reams of latin words for my exam. Do you know of any techniques or methods that will help speed the process. Not only for latin I suppose, but for other foreign languages too.

Use flashcards, and also use a voice recording of the words and the meanings. Study the words over multiple days, not just once. Sleep after studying them, then study more. Study them for no more than 15 minutes at a time and then do something else. After 15 minutes your efficiency at learning drops off tremendously and it becomes a waste of time. Connect the words in Latin to English derivatives so that you really understand the purpose of spending all this time on the words. You will remember them longer if you have something in English to hang it onto, and also if you really believe it is worthwhile. Of course, it is worthwhile, but we don’t always realize that while we are stuck with the huge list! I have many more ideas, so email me for help if these aren’t working for you. Bonam fortunam in probationem!
Memorization is the only way. Learn one word at the time.
Singing helps many people. Write each word and its definition, then sing thru the list – loudly!- to a tune you know well. Star Spangled Banner, any pop tune.
That’s how you learned your ABCs, and it can help with language vocabulary.
