Is Latin considered a language in university?

I chose french for my GCSE, and we hav until monday to change or give in our slips. But since I wasnt to become a doctor, I know Latin will come in handy. But I am not sure if Universities consider Latin as a language. Can someone plz help quick!
I can only choose out of French and Latin. But thanks for the suggestions so far!

Is it like studying the English language? I want to study Latin instead of Spanish. For any of you who ever took Florida Virtual School, do you know if Latin I is hard?

After the Council of Trent the Catholic Church re-established LATIN as the language to be used in worship, how is this so significant?

Why do they call Hispanics Latino or Latina? The Latin language comes from Ancient Rome.?

If latin is the language of ancient rome, then should we start calling Italians latinos and latinas? they are the real latin people? If not, then the romace laguages are spoken in several different countries besides south america including north Africa, france, and romania and so on... Why arn't the people from these countries considered latina or latino? I think this world is confused. Please help.
