How is it that Latin and Germanic language have similar alphabets?

What is the relation between Germanic language and Latin???

Looking through catalogued questions on answers.yahoo.com, I noticed that nearly half of the requests for "Language X to Latin" translations end up with Spanish replies.

I have a theory. My theory is that, like nationalistic Greek linguists who insist that the tonal accent never existed or that the second syllable of "alpha" began with a voiceless labiodental fricative, some rampant piece of misinformation has invaded the minds of Spanish speakers everywhere with the proposition "Spanish is Latin."

Am I correct?

i have tried some latin websites but i always end up getting the wrong, and or far more advanced answers. please notify me a really good website for this subject.i really need help with spelling,translation,pronounciations,using correct format/order of words in a sentence, and all the relevent stuff of and on perfecting how i am suppose to use latin.So for those who can help me with my dilemma, thank you.
